ANKATA – INSTITUT CULTUREL INTERNATIONAL DE BOBO DIOULASSO was founded in 2011. Ankata (‘Let’s go’ in Dioula) started modestly in the courtyard of my family home. My team and I have succeeded in elevating it to a unique place in the world of contemporary creation through ambitious and bold work. Today, we are an artistically and financially independent organisation that excels in six areas of work:

Ankata Next Generation

A three-year multidisciplinary training programme in the performing arts and entrepreneurship.

Ankata Coaching – Deconstructing the impossible

A coaching programme for young creators set up to question convictions, provoke, destabilise and share the experience of artistic and intellectual personality, as well as stimulating the mind of the creator to explore all possible horizons based on the realities of our continent.

Africa Simply the Best

The pan-African solo choreography competition in Bobo Dioulasso is organised every 2 years to spot new talent in Africa and stimulate creativity in dance. Promoting these young creators through an international tour, empowering them and opening up new opportunities for them.

Artistic residencies

We offer a creative residency for African artists, as well as for artists from other continents who want to meet Africa in a different way.

Ankata Foundation

The Ankata Foundation was set up to help eradicate extreme poverty in Bobo Dioulasso, and to play an ecologically responsible role in its environment. It does this by providing schooling for children, granting microcredit to women in precarious situations, and by planting trees.

The taekwondo club

How to further anchor a cultural space like Ankata in its environment. Create social cohesion in the district through a Karate club, to indirectly reach as many families in the town as possible. Taekwondo is about self-confidence, rigour and building a strong, fighting spirit.
